Mathare United goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya is expected to miss the next four weeks after suffering a finger fracture in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Sony Sugar in Awendo.
In what was an impressive performance for the 34-year-old in his maiden appearance for the Slum Boys this season, Kasaya collided with Ugandan forward George Abege when contesting for an aerial ball.
It is the second time Kasaya has been hurt since joining Mathare as the keeper was sidelined for three months after suffering a career threatening knee injury.
Kasaya told Mathare FC portal: “I am disappointed because I had just come out of injury and it was such a difficult period for me because I missed so many matches. But this is football and as a keeper you have to deal with such injuries,” said Kasaya.
“It’s all about picking myself up and staying positive during the recovery process.”
The Slum Boys revealed that an initial assessment had shown that he was to sit out for three weeks but medical team scans on the ring finger shows that he will spend four weeks on the sidelines.
Mathare are placed fourth on the Premier League standings on 14 points, two behind leaders Gor Mahia FC.
