The Rwanda national U-20 team will report back to residential camp on Sunday to prepare for a 2019 Africa Youth Championship return leg qualifier against Kenya’s Rising Stars.

Coach Vincent Mahami will have uninterrupted two-weeks long session with the boys as he works on modalities and tactics of caging the Stars when the two sides lock horns on Saturday 21 April from 4pm at the Kigali Stadium, Nyamirambo.

Junior Wasps managed to get a one-all draw in the first leg match played in Kenya, and the former APR coach must work round the clock to ensure that his boys do not concede and romp to the second and final round of the qualifiers where they will meet defending champions Zambia.

Rwanda has never brushed shoulders with the continent’s best in the competition’s finals and will have every reason to go hammer and tongs on the Kenyans.

On Sunday, Mahami is expected to lead his charges in an intense morning workout at the Kigali Stadium.

The two weeks long training will be unique as the Amavubu assistant coach has a lot of work to do in his leaky defense as well as stress on his strikers the need of being ruthless in the face of goal.

In Kenya, Wasps converted a late chance to pull the vital away goal when Lague Byiringiro cancelled out Kenya’s goal through Richard Odada.

“I think we have a very good chance to qualify because we are hungry but we need to prepare well the return leg at home. We will work hard in every aspect of the team. We are confident that the players will be ready for the challenge ahead,” said coach Vincent Mashami in an interview with Ruhayagacu.com

The youthful side were released back to their clubs before returning at the national team on Sunday afternoon after the second division games and Peace Cup return leg matches of last sixteen.

The final qualifying round will be staged in July with the winner earning slots to next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals tournament in Niger.
