Sam Ssimbwa has been appointed as the new coach of Ugandan Premier League side URA FC till the end of the current 2017/18 season.
He succeeds Paul Nkata, who threw in the towel Tuesday following a humiliating 7-2 loss to KCCA in the league.
“The URA Board sitting today 26th April 2018 has appointed Sam Ssimbwa Bamweyana to guide the team up to the end of the season.
We warmly welcome Sam and believe he has all the expertise necessary to lead a team of champions,” the club’s statement reads partly.
Sam’s appointment comes three weeks after he ditched Kenyan Premier League outfit Sofapaka – complaining of sabotage from the playing unit.
“He (Ssimbwa) claims players are sabotaging him and opted out despite the management committing to fully to support his job,” Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa sad.
Sam had presided over a 2-1 loss to Thika United before he resigned on 8th April 2018.
With four matches to the close of the season, URA are a distant eigth in the 16-team UPL standings – 18 points off joint leaders Vipers and Villa.
