Rwandese international Eric Rutanga scored twice to give the Rwanda
Defense Forces team APR a 2-1 win over ten-man Tanzania in their
second match of the East Africa Military Games.
In a match the show Tanzania reduced to ten men after captain Said Madega was sent for an early shower for a deliberate elbow to his Rwandese counterpart Albert Ngabonziza leaving Kenyan referee Andrew Juma with no option but to dish out a stright red.
Tanzania who come to the match with their head held high after an
impressive performance against Uganda in their opening match coming from behind to draw 2-2 but were stunned by a enterprising Rwandese side.
The first goal come in from a penalty spot after Rwanda Ngabonziza was brought down in the area by Tanzania’s Abdallah Mbonde and Rutanga stepped forward to cool convert the spot kick.
APR got their second goal in the 70th minute, Rutanga tapping into an empty net after Issa Bigirimana had intercepted Adan Michael’s shot
pass back to his keeper.
Tanzania scored their consolation goal from a beautiful freekick by
Adan Michael in the 89th minute. The results leaves Tanzania with
an uphill task as they must win the next match against Kenya on
Thursday to have any hope of a better finish.
Rwanda who drew with Kenya’s Ulinzi in their first match go second on the log with four points but with a inferior goal difference to the Kenyans who are at the top. Rwanda will be playing hosts Uganda on the same.
