AS Vita Club carried a point home from Morocco after being held to a goalless draw by hosts Raja Casablanca in a CAF Confederation Cup Group Group A match at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca on Sunday.
Raja Casablanca started on a bright note, but Zakaria Hadraf could not convert his freekick for the home side in the fifth minute, after being brought down just outside the box.
The Congolese however found their footing in the 20th minute forcing the hosts to retreat into their own half in defence.
Lema Mabida and Chadrack Lukombe had chances on different occasions with the latter being from a freekick but the resultant shot went wide from the far post.
Five minutes into the second half saw Ngoma and Madiba combine well before being crowded out while the Raja Casablanca defence were grateful to clear a good Shabani ball into the box.
Mukoko Batezadoi shot just wide on the volley for the best chance of the game, from a Muzungu cross swing in from the left as Ngonda got back to deny the home side attack from latching onto a threaded a ball as the tie wore on.
Substitute Ngundikana Kila injected some more pace into the Dolphins attack and, so nearly set up Ngoma for the win, but the striker’s shot was deflected wide.
Eddy Ngoyi, who was introduced in the 89th minute, was sent off in stoppage time for a dangerous challenge and Vita were reduced to 10 men.
Abdelilah Hafidi chance to grab a late winner for Raja on extra time, but he fired straight at Bongaman, who denied the Raja forward.
And that proved to be the last real chance of the match, with Vita having to settle for a point.
