Tottenham Hotsurs have officially made enquiry for Kenyan international Victor Mugubi Wanyama.
According to the Evening Standard, the club made a formal enquiry for the services of the defensive midfielder although reports from Saint Mary’s indicate that the Club is reluctant to release the player.
Spurs boss Argentina Mauricio Pochettino is very keen to bring Wanyama on board before the transfer window closes
Wanyama who is 24 years worked under Pochettino at Southampton and is one of the few Southampton players who did not leave as the club faced mass exodus of players.
He still has a 2 year contract remaining and the player is reported to be keen to link up with his former boss whom he said was like a mentor and helped develop his career.
Wanyama’s former midfield partner Morgan Schneiderlin who was wanted by Spurs went on to sign for Manchester United for a 24 Million Pound fee
As reported by the Evening Standard,a UK newspaper,Wanyama is quoted saying about his former boss before he left”I learnt a lot from him,he taught me more and thats why i have grown as a player”
“There is a big difference compared to when i was at Celtic. He played a big role in my career development.I wanted him to remain because he had a passion for the club.
I think the owners should not have let him go because the team can do better next season because he had good connection with players”
Pochettino joined Spurs in May 2014 from Southampton and the clubs capture of Toby Alderweireld last month at the jaws of Southampton would deprive them of another quality player.
Wanyama is the captain of Kenya’s national team Harambee Stars
