Kenyan Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia have been awarded 3 points and 2 goals on their abandoned game against bitter rivals AFC Leopards.
In a quick response unlike before Kpl dispensed almost immediate justice after getting the match report from the referee.
The ruling read in part:
In accordance with Rule 3.4 (b) Abandoned Matches and 7.8 Responsibility of Clubs for Misconduct, the AFC Leopards SC supporters caused the abandonment and in accordance Rule 3.8 Forfeited Matches the match is awarded to Gor Mahia FC on 2-0 basis and any yellow or red cards awarded during the match are valid and will be counted.
3.4 Responsibilities of Clubs
(b) Abandoned Matches: A club will forfeit any match which was abandoned because of the misconduct of their members or supporters.
7.8 Responsibility of Clubs for Misconduct
The committee has the discretionary power to take disciplinary action against clubs for gross or repeated misconduct by the officials, players or supporters of their club. For example, the club may be suspended, fined and/or relegated if their players accumulate an excessive number of warnings and cards for misconduct or their players, officials and/or supporters are considered responsible for the abandonment of one or more matches in a league or competition organized or authorized by the KFF.
3.8 Forfeited Matches
A match forfeited by a club will be awarded to their opponent. All goals scored by the opponent are valid and will be counted. Any goals scored by the offending club will be cancelled. If the opponent had only one or no goals, the match will be awarded to them on a 2-0 basis. Any yellow or red cards awarded during the match are valid and will be counted
