Burkina Faso thrashed Botswana 3-0 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification Group I match at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou on Saturday.
The win took the Stallions to second place on the group standings, while the Zebras remained fourth on the table.
The Stallions were hoping to get their qualifying campaign back on track after losing 2-0 to Mauritania away last month.
While the Zebras were desperate for their maiden win in Group I having lost 1-0 to Angola away.
It took only six minutes for the Stallions to break the deadlock after the Zebras defence was exposed.
It was veteran attacker Jonathan Pitroipa, who hit the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Burkina Faso much to the delight of the home crowd.
The Boswana attack which was led by Tumisang Orebonye tried to level matters before the half-time break.
However, Burkina Faso held on to their lead and they were 1-0 up at the interval.
The hosts doubled their lead six minutes after the restart and it was Bano Diawara, who put his name on the score sheet.
The Morocco-based striker beat Botswana goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe to make it 2-0 to Burkina Faso.
It was soon 3-0 to Burkina Faso as Abdoul Razak Traore scored from a free-kick to make it 3-0 after the hour-mark.
The Zebras pushed for a late consolation goal in the closing stages of the encounter.
However, Burkina Faso stood firm at the back and ultimately, they emerged 3-0 winners over Botswana on the night.
