Four matches were played across different venues as the Kenyan Premier League entered Round 7 on Saturday 12th January.Meanwhile Sunday matches provided excitement as Chemelil Sugar FC, Ulinzi Stars and Kariobangi Sharks registered wins over Posta Rangers, Sony Sugar FC and Western Stima respectively. In other matches, Vihiga United held Sofapaka to a draw.
Posta Rangers 0-2 Chemelil Sugar
Jeremiah Wanjala grabbed a brace as Chemelil Sugar FC beat Posta Rangers 2-0 in an entertaining match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 Western Stima
Kariobangi Sharks inflicted the first loss to Western Stima by edging them 2-1 in another entertaining match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
George Abege and Harrison Mwendwa first-half goals gave Sharks a comfortable lead coming into the second half and Hubert Kopany’s strike late after the breather was only but a consolation for Stima.
Sony Sugar FC 1-2 Ulinzi Stars
Ulinzi Stars bad run came to an end courtesy of an Enosh Ochieng brace as the soldiers beat hosts Sony Sugar 2-1 at the Green Stadium in Kericho. Maxwell Onyango pulled one back for Sony Sugar.
Vihiga United 1-1 Sofapaka
At the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, Vihiga United and Sofapaka played to an entertaining 1-1 draw. After a goalless first half, Amos Kigandi opened the scoring in the 68th minute but Umaru Kasumba cancelled the lead just a few minutes to stoppage time.
AFC Leopards 0-1 KCB FC
KCB FC finally registered their first win of the season as they beat AFC Leopards by a solitary goal in an entertaining match played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
Kennedy Owino’s strike in the fifth minute proved to be the match-winner as the Bankers held on to pick their first three points of the season.
Tusker FC 1-2 Mathare United
At the Ruaraka Stadium in Nairobi, Mathare United’s fine form persisted as they beat hosts Tusker FC. Johnstone Omurwa opened the scoring in the 24th minute and the impressive James Kinyanjui doubled the lead in the 69th. Peter Nzuki pulled one back for the Brewers in the 79th minute.
Mt Kenya United 1-2 Bandari FC
At the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Bandari beat struggling Mt Kenya United 2-1 in an early kickoff game. Hassan Abdallah opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Mt Kenya United custodian Lucas Indeche was sent off after a second bookable offence that resulted in a penalty and William Wadri converted it to double the lead for the visitors. Felly Mulumba scored an own goal in an attempt to clear a Brian Nyakan cross to gift the home side a consolation goal.
Kakamega Homeboyz 1-1 Zoo FC
At the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, Kakamega Homeboyz and Zoo FC settled for a 1-1 draw. Newton Ondari gave Zoo the lead seconds after kick-off but Kenyan International Allan Wanga leveled matters in the 35th minute to ensure the teams share spoils.
