Ghana’s Black Stars beat the Harambee Stars of Kenya 1-0 in the final round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers Saturday night.
Debutant Caleb Ekuban snatched the match winner for Ghana in the 83rd minute at the game played at the Accra sports stadium to give the West Africans the needed win against the impressive Kenyan side.
Both teams played for pride as they had already secured tickets for the 2019 AFCON.
However, with the win, the Black Stars top Group F with nine points followed by Kenya on seven points.
The 2019 AFCON, with its new 24-team format, will be held from June 15 to July 13 and the Black Stars will be hoping to end the country’s 37-year trophy drought.
