Uganda U-17 national team (Cubs) convincingly out-smarted the AFCON 2019 hosts Tanzania 3-0 in a one sided group A game played at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.
Uganda’s goals were scored by Andrew Kawooya, Ivan Asaba and Najib Yiga.
Kawooya opened the scores with a 16th minute goal off Rogers Mugisha assist.
Mugisha assisted Asaba for the second after 28 minutes as the first half read in 2-0 in bold in favour of the Ugandans.
Yiga wrapped up the scoring business on the red letter evening for Uganda with a well drilled header, 14 minutes from full time.
All the three changes were name for team Uganda. Abdulwahid Iddi, Isma Mugulusi and John Alou were introduced for Rogers Mugisha, Andrew Kawooya and Ivan Asaba respectively.
Uganda is now second in group A, three points behind leaders Nigeria who overcame Angola 1-0.
Uganda’s Ivan Asaba was named the Total man of the match.
The Cubs will now face Nigeria on Saturday. On the same day and time, Angola will battle Tanzania.
