Leodegar Tenga one of Africa’s finest football administrators and former Tanzania International who played for Tanzania in the 1980 African Cup of Nations will recontest the Confederation of African football(CAF) executive member position during the elective general assembly set for July 18 ,2019 in Cairo,Egypt this is according to a close source at the Tanzania Football federation(TFF).
Tenga has been a member of the CAF Exco since 2011 when he was elected.

To recontest the CAF Executive member position,Mr.Tenga needs a recommendation letter from the Tanzania Football federation(TFF) as the country representative.
Six Executive positions are up for grabs Northern Zone,Western Zones A and B,Central Zone,Central East Zone and Southern Zone whose office bearers are Jamal El Jaffri from Libya,Augustine Senghor from Senegal,,Sita Sangare from Burkina Faso,Patrice Ngaissona from Central Africa Republic,Leodegar Tenga from Tanzania and Kalusha Bwalya from Zambia.
Who is Leodegar Chilla Tenga?
One of the finest players in Tanzania’s history, Leodegar Chilla Tenga is a respected administrator and representative, leading the Tanzanian Football Federation as president since 2005 to 2012.
It’s been a successful second act for Tenga, who worked hard on development projects and increased the level of football in Tanzania and East Africa. He had a spell as secretary general of the TFF between 1988 and 1990 and was a member of the National Sports Council from 1990 – 2002 and its vice-chairman from 2000 – 2002.
In 2007, he was elected to a four-year term as President of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), which is the organiser of the Senior Challenge Cup – the oldest tournament in Africa, the host continent for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Tanzania has never qualified for the FIFA World Cup, and the only time they graced the Cup of Nations, Tenga was a standout. The national team captain from 1977 to 1981, he led them to a qualification victory over Zambia, who would go on to finish third in the next tournament, and to a respectable performance in the final event.Tanzania qualified for the 2019 AFCON after 39 years

Leodegar Tenga was a member of FIFA’s Technical Study Group (TSG). The TSG has been present at every FIFA competition for the last 40 years, identifying trends and providing informed analysis on all the technical and tactical advances the game has witnessed in that time.
In 2019 he was the Vice Chairman of the Tanzania Local Organisation committee that organised a succesful U-17 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Dar Es Salaam earning accolodades for his leadership role.
