Zamalek club president Mortada Mansour has said that Egypt’s interior ministry has agreed to allow 60,000 supporters to attend the second leg Confederation Cup final game against Morocco’s RS Berkane at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab stadium on Sunday.
“The interior minister agreed to allow 60,000 supporters to attend the match instead of 30,000,” Mansour was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.
The Cairo giants lost 1-0 away to the Moroccans in the first leg of Africa’s secondary club competition final in Berkane on Sunday.
On Monday, the Egyptian Football Association announced that they have sent a letter to the interior ministry asking them to allow 60,000 Zamalek fans to attend the second leg game, stressing that they would offer support for the team, which hopes to win the trophy.
“Tickets will be up for sale in different governorates to make the fans’ mission easier,” Mansour added.
Zamalek have no choice but to win in the match if they want to secure their first-ever Confederation Cup title.
The Whites have not tasted any success on the continental stage since defeating Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in the African Super Cup in 2003.
