Ghana Black Stars Head coach James Kwesi Appiah has named a provisional squad of 29 players to commence preparation for the Total 2019 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) Soka25east.com can confirm.

The squad comprises of four goalkeepers, nine defenders, eight midfielders and five forwards.

Ghana will begin a non-residential camp from May 27.The four-time African champions will head to United Arab Emirates to step-up preparation from June 1. While in Abu Dhabi, The Black Stars will begin a non-residential campaign from May 27. Ghana will play two trial matches against South Africa on June 6th and Namibia on June 9th,2019

The squad will be whittled down to 23 players by Kwesi Appiah and be submitted to the continent football governing body, CAF before June 10. 

The 24-team tournament is scheduled for June 21 to July 19 in Egypt.

Ghana are placed in Group F with holders, Cameroon, Benin and Guinea Bissau.

Ghana will kick-off their campaign against Benin at the Ismaily Stadium on June 25 before facing their West African neighbours, Cameroon four days later at the same venue. 

They will conclude their first round games against Guinea-Bissau at the Suez Stadium on July 2.
