Billiat leads strong Zimbabwe 23 man squad for Afcon

Zimbabwe’s 23 man squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt has been revealed, with Kaizer Chiefs star man Khama Billiat leading the charge.

Sunday Marimo Chidzambwa, has included veteran Knowledge Musona of Anderlecht, Belgium, Nyasha Mushekwi, who plays in the Chinese League with Dalian Yifang and Evans Rusike of Supersport United in South Africa.

Zimbabwe were drawn in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, DR Congo and Uganda. Zimbabwe, who will face Egypt in the tournament’s opener on 21 June, called their big guns ahead of the opening game.

The Nations Cup, which has been expanded to 24 teams, will be played in Egypt between 21 June and 19 July.

This summer’s edition will mark Zimbabwe’s fourth appearance in the biennial tournament.

Midfielders: Danny Phiri (Golden Arrows – South Africa), Marshall Munetsi (Orlando Pirates – South Africa), Marvelous Nakamba (Club Brugge – South Africa), Tafadzwa Kutinyu (Azam – Tanzania), Ovidy Karuru (AmaZulu – South Africa), Khama Billiat (Kaizer Chiefs – South Africa), Kudakwashe Mahachi (Orlando Pirates – South Africa), Talent Chawapihwa (AmaZulu – South Africa), Thabani Kamusoko (Young Africans – Tanzania).
