Chipolopolo midfielder Augustine Mulenga says there will be nothing friendly on the pitch about Zambia’s encounter with Morocco on Sunday (tomorrow) at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.
Mulenga who is part of the 19-member squad currently in Morocco tells FAZ Football that the lads were looking forward to giving their best against the Atlas Lions.
“This game we will play is a friendly game but it is going to count on the FIFA ranking. We just have to pull up our socks, it is not going to be easy because Morocco lost the match against Gambia,” said the Orlando Pirates star.
“I am sure they will want to give their all to win their game. We just have to pull our socks and be ready.”
The Orlando Pirates forward said that having watched Morocco play Gambia, the Chipolopolo some insight on the strengths of the Moroccans.
‘We watched the game against Gambia and know what they are capable of doing. We just have to use the weaknesses we saw,” he said.
Mulenga said the team was in good spirits and looking forward to a good match.
“We are preparing very well and we have to do our best. The game against Cameroon was a good warm up for us because we were on holiday. Some players may have been relaxing and in a holiday mood. We lost that game but I am sure we learnt one or two things,” he said.
Zambia plays Morocco on Sunday before winding their three-game international trip with a titanic clash against the Elephants of Ivory Coast in Abu Dhabi on June 19.
The Chipolopolo boys opened their tour with a 2-1 loss to reigning African champions Cameroon in Madrid on June 9.
FAZ has secured high profile games for the Chipolopolo with the team having been in Marrakech from 7 June, 2019.
