Algeria beat Mali 3-2 in Doha, Qatar in their final friendly before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Goals from Baghdad Bounedjah, Youcef Belaili and Andy Delort secured the victory.
The game, which was being played behind closed doors, got off to a bad start when Sporting striker Diaby gave Mali the lead from the penalty spot.
But it was the main man again Baghdad Bounedjah who equalised just before half-time thanks to an assist from Youcef Belaili. The two also combined for a goal in the previous match against Burundi.
Mali retook the lead in the second half to make it 2-1. However the Desert Foxes showed great resilience to turn the game around.
Youcef Belaili equalised to make it 2-2 from the penalty spot, but then the real magic happened. Riyad Mahrez and Andy Delort both came off the bench.
Mahrez assisted Delort, who was making his debut for Algeria, and he scored on his debut to secure the 3-2 victory for the North African side.
Algeria’s next match is their first group phase encounter against Kenya in Group C which takes place on the 23rd of June in Cairo.
