Itamunua Keimuine scored an own goal in the 90th minute to gift Morocco a 1-0 victory in what will be heartbreak for Namibia after putting up a spirited fight in the game played at Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo.
Morocco got off the blocks early dominating possession but were struggling to create chances.
Morocco right back Dirar had a pop from range 10 minutes in, but Kazapua in the Namibia goal put his fingertips to the ball to send it over the bar.
Namibia’s Ronald Kitjijere saw his effort sail over the bar in the 16th minute.
Ziyech on the other hand was being restricted to shots from range, in the 19th minute his shot was poorly taken and wide of Kazapua’s goal.
Again Ziyech made an attempt on his weaker left foot 3 minutes later but again his shot was off target and didn’t trouble the keeper.
The two sides could not be separated at half time with Morocco having more if the ball in the first period.
Substitute Sofian Boufal brought some life into the game after coming in for Bourabia in the 58th minute, and nearly broke the dreadlock on two occasions just before the hour mark but both his shots went begging.
Just as the game looked like heading for the first goalless draw substitute Keimuine deflected the ball into his own net from a Hakim Ziyech freekick.
Not a good performance from Morocco but 3 points they bagged nonetheless and top Group D.
