Winger Thomas Agyepong will miss Ghana’s second Group F crucial showdown vs Cameroonat the Ismailia Stadium on Saturday due to an injury.
Agyepong was taken off due to a thigh injury and was replaced by Samuel Owusu during the Black Stars opening game against the Squirrels of Benin at the Ismaila Stadium on Tuesday, which ended 2-2.
Captain, Dede Ayew, also suffered an ankle injury towards the end of the game and was substituted.
Both players sat out of the team’s revovery session on Wednesday.
However, scans on Thomas Agyepong revealed that he will not available for selection for the game while Dede Ayew’s condition is still being monitored by the medics.
A statement from the GFA, read: “Black Stars captain Dede Ayew and Thomas Agyepong sustained injuries during the Ghana-Benin game last Tuesday at the Ismailia Stadium. Both players were substituted in the second half as a precautionary measure.”
“Further medical test revealed that Agyepong will not be available for selection for the Cameroon game. However, the medical team are monitoring Dede’s condition and advise the technical team regarding his availability depending on how he respond to treatment,” the statement added.
The Black Stars currently sit third in the Group with just a point.
