The third round of games in the Total 2019 Afcon has concluded, there were some fascinating and dull games.
25 goals were scored from 20 different scorers. 35 yellows were dishes out with just 1 red card.
Group A:
Egypt 2-0 Uganda
Egypt beat Uganda 2-0 at the Cairo International Stadium to finish top of the Group, thanks to strikes from winger Mohammed Salah and captain Ahmed El-Mohammady in the 36th and 45th minute respectively.
DR Congo 4-0 Zimbabwe
Uganda kept their hopes of qualifying to the next round alive by beating Zimbabwe 4-0 at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo.
A brace from Cedric Bakambu added to goals from Jonathan Bolingi and Britt Assombalonga made sure that.
Egypt heads the Group with 9 points, followed by Uganda with 6 points, DR Congo in third with 3 points and Zimbabwe lie bottom with just 1 point.
Group B:
Nigeria 0-2 Madagascar
A terrible blunder from centre-back Leon Balogun and delicious freekick from Carolus saw debutant, Madagascar shock Nigeria 2-0 at the Alexandria Stadium in Alexandria.
Guinea 2-0 Burundi
Guinea coasted to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Burundi at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo. Thanks to a Mohammed Yattara’s double.
Madagascar top the Group with 7 points, Nigeria locked on the second spot with 6 points, Guinea sit third with 4 points and Burundi dwells at the base with no point.
Group C:
Algeria 3-0 Tanzania
Algeria maintained their 100 percent record at the competition, thanks to a 3-0 mauling of Tanzania in their ultimate clash on Monday at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo.
Goals arrived on 35th and 40th minute from the foot of Islam Slamini and Adam Ounas.
Senegal 3-0 Kenya
A double from Sadio Mane and a goal from Ismaila Sarr was all Senegal needed to beat Ten-man Kenya 3-0 in their final game at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo and cement their place at the next round of the competition.
Algeria sit on the summit of log with 9 points, Senegal occupy the second spot with 6 points, Kenya lie third with 3 points and Tanzania rocked bottom with no point.
Group D:
Morocco 1-0 South Africa
Morocco beat South Africa 1-0 in their last game of the Group at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo and earn a spot in the round of 16.
Goal came in the 90th minute, courtesy a strike from Mbark Boussofa.
Ivory Coast 4-1 Namibia
Ivory Coast cruised to a 4-1 win over Namibia at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo.
Morocco head the ladder with 9 points, Ivory Coast in second with 6 points, South Africa locked on third spot with 3 points with Namibia occupying fourth with zero point.
Group E:
Mali flew to the round of 16 as winners of the Group after edging Angola 1-0 at the Ismailia Stadium in Ismailia. Thanks to Amadou Haidara’s 37th minute strike.
Tunisia and Mauritania played out a 0-0 drawn game at the Suez Stadium in Suez.
Mali top the Group with 7 points, Tunisia second with 3 points, Angola and Mauritania lie 3rd and 4th with 2 points each.
Group F:
Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey scored in either half as Ghana beat Guinea Bissau 2-0 to progress to last 16 of the competition.
In other Group game, Cameroon and Benin settled for a 0-0 drawn game at the Ismailia Stadium in Ismailia.
Ghana lead the chart with 5 points same with Cameroon, but have superior goal difference, Benin occupy the third spot with 3 with Guinea Bissau sitting at the foot of the table with no point.
