FKF President Nick Mwendwa has confirmed CEO Robert Muthomi’s request to step aside pending an investigation into allegations surrounding the purported transfer of Sofapaka striker John Avire to an undisclosed club in Egypt.
Head of Communications and Marketing Barry Otieno will act in the CEO’s capacity during the period of investigation by the FKF Disciplinary Committee.
Muthomi’s letter came just an hour after Mwendwa had called for a press conference on Monday morning where he was expected to announce his decision to sack the SG, who was one of his greatest campaign mercenaries in 2016.
Avire is yet to resume training with Sofapaka, and chairman Elly Kalekwa has accused the FKF of illegally meddling in the transfer of his key player.
