Morocco’s football federation launched a 10-day session to train video assistant referees (VAR) on Thursday.
The federation has invited 110 Moroccan referees to the training camp ahead of the adoption of VAR in Morocco’s first football league, “Botola Pro”, this season, Xinhua learned from the federation.
The training session organized at the National Center of Football in Mammoura, near Rabat, will focus on basic VAR elements to ensure the referees are familiar with the technology and protocols.
It will also include training of FIFA’s new refereeing regulations.
The federation has previously announced that VAR would go into effect starting from next season.
A Spanish company will carry out the project to set up the VAR across Moroccan football stadia for the next four seasons.
