Muhoroni Youth forward George Mandela is the SportPesa/Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) player of the month of August.

The striker who has netted thrice for the Awasi side,helping them to a fourth spot on the Kenyan Premier League log currently, beat a stiff competition from other contenders namely, George Abege – Bandari FC, Paul Kiongera – KCB and Ibrimah Sanah – City Srars to emerge the finest of the month.

George was presented with the glittering gong, 43″ Flat Screen TV from LG and a cheque worth Kshs 50,000 during the team’s morning training session at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium.

The player could not hide his joy,saying he did not expect it.

“I feel very excited getting this award. To be sincere, I did not expect to get this award but it is a motivation for me. It is the first ever time in my career that I have been voted the best and I don’t take it lightly. I am so happy,”
