Al Ahly were set to host arch rivals Zamalek in the highly-awaited Cairo derby in the Egyptian Premier League nextSaturday October 19th. However, the Egyptian FA have announced that the game will be postponed to an undisclosed date, per the request of the county’s security officials.
Zamalek president had already asked for the game to be move in order for his players to rest between this game and their upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Senegal’s Generation Foot.
Nonetheless, Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib, with the support of the rest of his board, refused to reschedule the game which started a spat between both chairmen.
Al Ahly have had a perfect start to the season under the guidance of new Swiss manager Rene Weiler achieving three wins from the first three league fixtures, in addition to sealing qualification to Champions League group stages and beating arch-rivals Zamalek for the Egyptian Super Cup.
