Pyramids FC reached the Confederation Cup group stage after claiming a 3-0 win over Young Africans of Tanzania in the second leg of the competition’s play-off at the Air Defence Stadium in Cairo on Sunday.
The Egyptian side, who won the first-leg 2-1 in Dar es Salaam two weeks ago, went through with a 5-1 aggregate win.
Burkinabe midfielder Eric Traore opened the scoring in the 27th minute, slotting home on the rebound after Abdallah El-Said’s free kick was parried by the keeper into his path.
Forward Mohamed Farouk doubled the lead ten minutes from time after stabbing home a corner from El-Said, who turned scorer deep in stoppage time to crown his superb display and complete the rout.
The draw for the group stage of Africa’s secondary club competition will be held on 10 November.
