The coach of the Cameroon U-17 National Men’s football team, Thomas Libiih together with the entire technical team have been sacked over the pre-matured elimination of the team from the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
The Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, terminated the working relationship with the entire technical staff following a communique released on November 6, 2019 signed by the President, Seidou Mbombo Njoya.
Apart from poor performances stated in the communique, FECAFOOT said, the entire staff was also sack due to the fact Thomas Libiih and his boys refused to sign the code of conduct of the National team.
However, observers are quick to point out that the reason of Thomas Libiih sacking id not poor performance but the refusal of compromising and working with the office technicians. Some even pointed out that his decision to following the 2014 law on sport made things difficult for those who think they can still continue to control things just like that.
Cameroon was knocked out of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil in the first round after losing all their three group matches, scoring one and conceding six goals.
Libiih qualified Cameroon after winning the CAF U-17 AFCON after beating Guinea on penalties in the finals. Nevertheless, at the head of the cadet lions for over two years, coach Libiih and co are leaving after winning two UNIFFAC trophies and U-17 AFCON title latter this year in Tanzania.
Cameroon lastly participated in the competition in 2003.
