Zimbabwe Warriors are set to travel to Zambia for their group second match against the hosts Chipolopolo. The match is set for the Zambian capital at the National Heroes Stadium.
And it has seen the interim Zimbabwe coach Joey Antipas dropping three players from the travelling party.
The Warriors were held to a nil all draw by Zebras of Botswana at their traditional hunting ground National Sports Stadium in Harare at 6pm Zambia time.
Having had a chance to see their regional and border football enemies lose to Algeria by huge margin. Zimbabwe had hoped they could stake a good claim in match day one against Botswana to kick start their 2021 Afcon qualifier. But they came short as they were held by a determined Botswana side.
The coach, Antipas has since dropped Botswana based Terrence Dzukamanja, Zambia based Thabani Kamusoko and goalkeekper Talbert Shumba from the squad meant to make the trip this Sunday.
Goalkeepers: Elvis Chipezeze, Simbarashe Chinani.
Defenders: Ian Nekati, Cliff Moyo, Kelvin Moyo, Teenage Hadebe, Partson Jaure, Alec Mudimu, Ronald Pfumbidzai.
Midfielders: Marshall Munetsi, Marvelous Nakamba, Butholezwe Ncube, Ovidy Karuru, Khama Billiat, Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Strikers: Knox Mutizwa, Prince Dube and captain Knowledge Musona
Meanwhile, Zambia’s Chipolopolo crushed by a massive bruising at the hands of the Desert Foxes last Thursday are looking to redeem themselves and possibly collect maximum points against regional and perennial rivals Zimbabwe. Have in earnest drafted in two of its rising stars in the under 23 dou of Emmanuel Mwepu and Patson Daka.
The duo were excused from the senior side so that they could play in the 2019 U23 Afcon tournament currently underway in Egypt.
