The Kenyan football fisco seems unending after the much anticipated trip to Zurich the headquarters of FIFA by a high powered delegation aborted in the last minute.

A delegation comprising Sports Minister Amina Mohamed ,Sports Ministry Permanent secretary PS Okudo, Sports Registrar Rose Wasike and Sports Disputes Tribunal chairman John Ohaga and FKF President Nick Mwendwa was to travel to Zurich to iron out issues on the pending football elections..

Sources told soka25east.com that the FKF mandarins told FIFA that they had reached an amicable resolution on the current impasse on the pending elections and therefore there was no need to travel to Zurich.

However the source added that FIFA has apparently written to FKF to provide them with details of the signed agreement for verification on the issue as it was absurd ,that within few days to visiting Zurich where they were supposed to sign a joint agreement a resolution had been reached in Kenya.

A source told www.soka25east.com that the issue raised by FIFA on signing an agreement in Zurich could have led the government officials to develop cold feet as they did not want to be party to what could jeorpadise their positions in the matter.

The development comes barely a month after a strong Fifa and Caf delegation led by Fifa Governance manager Sara Solemale visited Nairobi and had a series of meeting with Mohammed and Wasike.

The elections delay has ensured that FKF’s branches tenure ended on the 26th January 2020, while tenure of office of the NEC members is elapsing on the 10th February and any extension will definitely be challenged as there exists a precedence in Kenya already with a former FA president in 2004.

In cancelling the elections, Ohaga ruled that the Electoral Board was not properly constituted and that FKF did not conduct adequate public participation over the exercise.

Consequently, FKF held a special general meeting in Nairobi on Tuesday which some stakeholders have termed illegal as they argued that attending an SGM after their tenure elapsed on the 28th ,a move that will likely be challenged in the tribunal.

The tenure of office of the NEC members is elapsing on the 10th February and any extension will definitely be challenged as there exists a precedence in Kenya already with a former FA president in 2004.
