Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has officially been unveiled as the Chipolopolo coach after he penned a two-year deal.
The Serbian trainer was unveiled this afternoon by FAZ President Andrew Kamanga at Barca Academy in Lusaka.
The 50-year-old who spoke to the press for the first time today talked about his master plan to revive the fortunes of Zambian Football.
Micho emphasized that Zambian players need to change their mindset and improve on their mental strength.
The new Chipolopolo Boys coach is already targeting the March 26 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Botswana. He said it is a must-win game for Zambia.
“Some countries below us (Zambia) have players in the English Premier League. I saw Mbwana Samatta (Tanzanian for Aston Villa-scored on his debut) yet we don’t.”
“I come from a country (Serbian) that has produced many top players in Europe yet we are only 7 million!
“We are going to do this for the Zambian people, the President, and everybody!
“Our new motto is never to give up. We shall work like suicide bombers-doing everything to ensure Chipolopolo returns to the Africa Cup and top of African football.”
“It’s very painful to watch the Africa Cup and Chipolopolo is not there,” Micho said after being unveiled.
The Serb will be joined as an assistant coach and goalkeeper that he will bring and also Zambia U20 national team head coach Oswald Mutapa and goalkeeper trainer Stephen Phiri.
Zambia has a busy schedule ahead starting with back to back AFCON qualifiers against Botswana in March, Micho is also expected to take the Copper Bullets through the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualification process.
Zambia was drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Mauritania and Equatorial Guinea.
