Senegal U-23 won the Gold medal at the All-Africa Games Brazzaville 2015, after hard earn 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso in the final of the continental competition on Friday evening.
It is the young Lions’ first-ever AAG football men’s tournament medal, with a fourth-place finish in Maputo in 2011 their best achievement to date.
FC Metz midfielder Moussa Seydi was the hero after scoring the lone goal of the final after just 2 minutes of play.
The victory came two months before Senegal host the 2015 African Under-23 Cup of Nations finals which will also serve as a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s women also won the African Games football tournament for the first time when beating Cameroon 1-0 in Congo.
Portia Boakye struck a stunning volley two minutes from time to secure the historic victory in Brazzaville.
Ghana only reached the knock-out stage after the drawing of lots separated them from group rivals South Africa.
