The Egyptian Football Association has suspended all Football Competitions in Egypt due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
More than 55 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the North African nation with the government closing all major institutions such as schools and Universities to help contain the spread of the disease.
The EFA announced in a statement on Saturday, that all matches across all divisions will be suspended starting, Monday in a bid to do it’s duty in helping combat the spread.
“As per instructions from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Youth and Sports, and after reviewing the recommendations of the Medical Committee of the Egyptian Football Association, the Egyptian Football Association decided to suspend football games for 15 days starting Monday,” the statement read in part.
“The decision applies to all divisions of local competitions.”
Other countries in Africa like The Democratic Republic of Congo have suspended their Football Competitions for 30 days as well as in Morocco, authorities have taken the decision to stop all football activities. In South Africa, SAFA have decided to continue with it’s competitions, while in Kenya, the FKF says all competitions will be suspended indefinitely starting Monday.
