World’s football governing body FIFA has now effectively postponed its junior Women’s tournaments, the FIFA U-17 and U-20 World Cups. Both events were scheduled for this year but will now take place in 2021pending the conclusion of continental qualifiers.
FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be hosted by India will now take place from 17 February – 7 March 2021 whilst the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Costa Rica and Panama will now kick off from 20 January – 6 February 2021.
The eligibility criteria for both tournaments remain. For the U-17, players born on or after 1 January 2003 and on or before 31 December 2005 will be allowed to compete.
As for the U-20, players born on or after 1 January 2000 and on or before 31 December 2004 will be allowed to compete.
FIFA moved to cancel the mentioned events as the coronavirus pandemic took hold across the globe.
