Zambian forward Hellen Mubanga has signed for Spanish side Zaragoza CFF on a three year deal as from the 2020/21 season. The club plays in the second division of women’s football in Spain, Primera Division B.
Mubanga joins the Zaragoza based club from FAZ Women’s League club Red Arrows FC in Zambia. She is the clubs’ fifth signing after compatriot Rachael Nachula, Annelie Leitner, American Maddy Brown, and Venezuelan Lisbeth Castro.
The forward has underlined her game with her energy and versatility in attacking positions. She has been a keen figure for the national side Copper Queens.
Mubanga scored a vital goal against Cameroon, that saw Zambia qualify for their first ever Olympics tournament in the fifth and final round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers.
Also, she was the top scorer in the 2019 COSAFA Cup with 10 goals and named player of the tournament.
Zaragoza CFF, placed fourth in the Retro Iberdrola table, had their season cancelled after the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) called off its women’s league seasons due the coronavirus pandemic.
