By Vicent Kakooza,
Vipers showed a lot of mental fortitude to come from a goal down and draw 2-2 with KCCA in the sides’’ fifth game of the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Hakim Senkumba and Tom Masiko (pen) scored for KCCA on 11 and 19 minutes respectively in a game Vipers struggled to hold their nerves at the start.
However Miya Farouk took up things in his hands on 24 minutes, running several metres before chipping the ball for Sekisambu whose headed effort beat KCCA’s custodian Emmanuel Opio, It was Sekisambu’s first league goal for the club.
At this point, Vipers stabilized and looked like the side on a mission. and took the game to the visitors in the second half and after 55 minutes, their efforts paid off.
Miya’s cross from the left was handled by Denis Okot in the area and the referee Mashood Ssali pointed to the spot.
Miya converted the resultant penalty kick to level matters for the defending champions.
The results mean that both KCCA and Vipers still hold positions 1 and two respectively on 11 points each with the former boasting of a superior goal difference.
