Kwale Starlets attacking midfielder Elizabeth Katungwa has landed a deal in Europe for a Swedish outfit Dalhem IF.
Confirmed reports indicate that Katungwa jetted out on Monday night to the Scandinavian nation together with her counterpart Mary Kinuthia who has been part of Dalhem since 2017 when she went for trials.
Both were waiting for the government to lift its ban on international travel on August 1 after it was imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Mukasa Amboko, Kwale Girls High School coach, the Stockholm based club has been keenly monitoring the 21-year old, from her time playing in the school games in 2018 & for the national team
“The Swedish scouts have been secretly following her progress. They watched Katungwa during the National School games in 2018 then at the East Africa Secondary School games in Rwanda the same year,” Amboko observed.
“They initiated contact in March 2019. At the time, she was called up for national team duty which further convinced the scouts of her worth.” He continued.
This move comes barely days after Lily Awuor signed a two year deal with German club Borussia Pankow from Swedish club Hammarby.
