The adjudicatory chamber of the Court for Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has extended the verdict of the case involving the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Osei Plamer to Sept 1.

Originally, the Sports tribunal had set Tuesday, August 4 for the final ruling but deferred it to the new date

But in a communique released on Wednesday, August 5, reads: “On behalf of the deputy president of the CAS Appeal Arbitration Division, please be advised that the time limit to communicate the Arbitral Award to the parties puisuant to Articles R59 of the code of sports-related Arbitration has extended until 1 September, 2020.

“Please be advised that i remain at the parties disposal for any further information,” it added.

It will be recalled that Wilfred Osei Palmer was disqualified from contesting the FA Presidential elections held last October at the College of Physians and Surgeons in Accra by the defunct FIFA/CAF Normalisation Committee headed by Kofi Amoah.

The Tema Youth owner was disqualified from the contest on the recommendation of a vetting committee for breaching financial regulations after the sale of a player of his club – Joseph Painstil – to KRC Genk in 2017.

The infuriated ex-FA council member headed to CAS to seek redress for what he termed as “unfair disqualification.” 

Should CAS pronounce the ruling on the latest date in favour of Osei Palmer, there will be a re-election or GFA, Kurt Okraku will continue to serve his four year term as President of the Association.
