Gor Mahia Senior Vice Chair Francis Wasuna will deputise long serving chairman Ambrose Rachier after he retained his seat in the club elections held virtually on Saturday August 8 in Nairobi.
Wasuna received 226 (58%) of the votes, 63 more of his competitor Sally Bolo who managed 163 which made 42% percent of the total votes cast.
The process turned ugly when the former Gor treasurer Bolo read malice as she complained of not being able to access the transmission of results.
Dolphine Adhiambo trounced Christine Okoth to get the Treasurer position. Adhiambo gained 286 votes to Okoth’s 108.
Club chairman Rachier and Secretary General Sam Ocholla were elected unopposed.
Already, several club members involved the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) which threatened that it will nullify the elections if it did not follow due process.
In a letter signed by its deputy Chairperson Elynah Sifuna Shiveka, it pointed out that due process should be followed.
“The activity of the first respondent scheduled for 8 August 2020 shall be declared null and void in case it was unprocedural and unlawfully done.” stated the SDT letter.
“The claimants shall serve all the respondents with the application and these directions on or before Monday 10th August 2020.”
