By Moses Ondiek,
An ideal work growth situation can be described as that where you work your way up quietly learning the ropes while at the same time taking note of the short coming in every department.
That is the description that best suits Football Kenya Federation Presidential aspirant 36 year old, intelligent, suave, thorough and straightforward talking Nick Mwendwa.
His rise has been steadfast and meticulously planned and not an after thought for the sake of football elections as some may wish to depict he has been learning the ropes from the deep end and seeing him announce his candidature befitted a steady ruse that has solely seen him sponsor hot shots Kariobangi Sharks for over a decade.
Nick Mwendwa was not born with a silver spoon on his mouth. He was a typical kid who played the game in the streets went further to acquire knowledge in IT mastered with a genuine love for football he is definitely a self made man in the game unlike the perception bring peddled by some pundits that he is Sam Nyamweya’s project.
Mwendwa was simply a very patient and bright student of football never the one to jump at anything he took his time to learn the ropes while keenly taking note at what went wrong at the federation and to see him finally plunging at the very deep end of the game should be a positive sign for stakeholders to finally realise the light at the end if the tunnel is finally promising to be bright.
I don’t see why and how his competitors should wary if they really prepared well and instead of trying to woe their way to the people hearts by using the name “Nick Mwendwa “as their scapegoat they have to ask themselves they have been in the system what did they really do or they never wanted to take baby steps and learn as Mwendwa did?
Sam Nyamweya has simply found in Nick Mwendwa what he never thought would come in the next 10 years and that ‘s a worthy and very serious competitor who as it stands has the real numbers firmly on his side.
That in itself is a real case that deserves accolades from football stakeholders that finally a man who loves football ,is prudent at management and is business minded has offered himself for the big job to transform the rotten Kenyan football structure that has stagnated for years.
With respect to the other competitors that also seek an opportunity to unseat the incubent be reminded that the signs of rain is seen on how the wind is blowing for now the WIND IS FOR REAL CHANGE no Shortcuts.
The perception that Nick Mwendwa is a Nyamweya project should not hold any water those are sentiments of those who pretend to want change but are indeed afraid of the change.
For the first time the thousands of Kenyan youths have a reason to dream that better things are coming and that finally football will not be treated as a hobby but as a big professional industry that will give every footballer,ex footballers, referees, Coaches, entrepreneurs and football stakeholders a reason to smile, enjoy and also make a living from the beautiful game.
