Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract extension at Arsenal is still yet to be completed, so there is unlikely to be an announcement any time soon, despite speculation.
That’s according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, who believes there is still work to be done on the deal.
Arsenal is keen to tie Aubameyang down to a new long-term contract at the Emirates.
The club captain was tipped to leave this summer, with less than a year to run on his current deal.
However, his relationship with Mikel Arteta appears to have changed his mind on his future, as reports had suggested he wanted a fresh challenge.
The Express are reporting that, The Gabon International is set for a new lucrative contract to see his wages jump from £250,000-per-week to £300,000-per-week.
Aubameyang played a key role in Arsenal’s FA Cup success, scoring twice as they beat Chelsea 2-1 in the final at Wembley.
And Gunners chiefs are keen to reward his efforts with a pay rise, and are believed to be in current talks with the striker’s representation.
The striker smashed 29 goals this season to top the Gunners’ scoring charts and manager Mikel Arteta is desperate to keep him at the Emirates.
However, he has so far failed to put pen to paper with uncertainty remaining over his future.
But the forward’s brother has hinted on social media that he is ready to sign on the dotted line.
Willy Aubameyang did an Instagram Live and was asked to wink if his sibling had agreed a new contract. He duly obliged sending Gunners fans into a frenzy online.
