Mamelodi Sundowns beat Polokwane City 3-0 on Thursday evening at Loftus Versfeld to ensure that the chase for the title defense will go down to the last day of the 2019/20 season.
Sundowns are currently on the same points with Kaizer Chiefs on fifty-six with one game to go.
Masandawana displayed some great football as they thrashed City to set up a nail bitting finale on Saturday.
Coach Pitso Mosimane made five changes to his side from the last game against Baroka and saw the likes of Promise Mkhuma, Tebogo Langerman, Ricardo Nascimento, Lebo Maboe and Rivaldo Coetzee making their way to the starting eleven.
It was a cold night in the Capital city and the Brazilians had a great start to the game and youngster Mkhuma found himself in the box after some great control and unleashed a shot which was saved by a fully stretched George Chigova.
The home side also showed that they are going to go toe to toe with Masandawana as Mohammed Anas found himself in the box after a counter but saw his shot tipped over by Kennedy Mweene. Gaston Sirino made a great run into the box and laid a great pass for Maboe but his shot was saved by Chigova.
Motjieka Madisha rose up in the box but his header was timely saved by Chigova who was the man standing in front of Masandawana finding the net, the Rise and Shine shot stopper was having a tough time and in the thirty-fourth minute there was nothing he could do as Anele Ngcongca found the back of the net to score his first league goal.
The Brazilians kept putting more pressure on Polokwane City and were duly rewarded for the efforts as Themba Zwane made a superb run and beat Chigova for the second time on the night. The first half ended 2-0.
The second half started on the same tempo as Masandawana kept probing and they needed to score more goals in order to better their goal difference which could prove vital on Saturday and who wins the Championship.
Lyle Lakay and Keletso Makgalwa made way as to put more pressure and have pace going forward and search for those goals, the game was open and both sides were attacking each other, with the referee adding additional time Makgalwa scored the third of the night and seal the victory for to make it all to play for on the last day of the season.
Up next for Sundowns is Black Leopards on Saturday with kick-off billed for 15:30 CAT (16:30 EAT) at Dobsonville Stadium.
