The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has refuted media reports that the stadium which is under construction in Juba has totally collapse.
Speaking to Soka25east.com SSFA President Mr. Francis Amin Michael says the damage is minor and is not as being portrayed on social media.
“We have seen the damage done but it was not what was being amplified through social media platforms,” said Amin Michael.
“I have met several government agencies and explained and they have understood what really happened as per the contractor doing the job.
“As SSFA we are committed to finish the stadium project ane we will ensure proper measures are followed by the construction company to ensure safety and quality works.
And Managing Director for GS Construction Company of Juba Stadium, Mr. Girma Safario confirmed that the main reason for collapse of the part of the main cabin of Juba stadium yesterday was due to collision of a crane that broke fresh concrete which in turn led to the collapse of a cabin yesterday.
Speaking at the construction site, Girma said that work is continuing after the accident, detesting rumours circulating in the social media that the stadium has totally collapsed is false.
“The Incident is a minor incident, during the casting of fresh concrete, the shooter knocked the support and the fresh concrete has come down
This is what happens usually. It has happened in so many constructions places like this one and it is not a major incident.
“It has nothing to do with the structure of the stadium and as you can see it is minor one and we are already working on it and it is almost done,” assured Girma.
