SuperSport United Football Club lost their first match of the DStv Premier Soccer League in a midweek encounter against Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
Arrows were the first to open the scoring account in the 38th minute of the first stanza through Matome Mathiane who headed in from a corner.
Arrows went into the break ahead and deservedly so.
In the 69th minutes it was Golden Arrows again who increased the lead to make the score 2-0. Velemseni Ndwandwe made an immediate impact moments after coming on with a well struck low shot to beat Williams.
United pulled a goal back on the night from the boot of midfielder Teboho Mokoena after releasing a long range drive to make the score 2-1.
In the referee’s additional time the home side extended the lead to make the score 3-1. A swift break away by Ntsako Makhubela saw him come one on one with Williams and cooly slotted home to seal the victory.
The final score was 3-1 to the home side.
Matsatsantsa will play their next league match against Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday November 4 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
