Arsenal are furious with the incident that occurred at Banjul International Airport in Gambia which shows Gabon National team players sleeping on the floor.

The gunners are said to be considering stopping their prized possession from representing his country for the time being and quite understandably so.

Gabon were in Gambia to play an AFCON Qualifier match and were apparently made to wait for clearance according to that country’s Covid-19 protocols forcing some players to sleep on the cold floor.

This didn’t go down well with the Gunners, as Aubameyang’s national team manager, Patrice Neveu, told Canal Plus.

“Arsenal called Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang After seeing him in those conditions, it’s over… They won’t let him come again, and it will be the same for players from other clubs,” Neveu said.

“It’s understandable. They are high level players and when they come on international duty, they need to have a minimum of comfort”.

He added, courtesy of L’Echo Republicain: “All the players tried to sleep on the airport floor. Imagine if Aubameyang, a player who costs more than €1m/month, gets injured… The English club can be annoyed after what’s happened. To make a player sleep on the floor…”

CAF immediately took interest in the case by calling for an emergency video call for the Gabonese and Gambian Football Federations on Monday afternoon.

During the call, CAF clearly deplored this unfortunate situation before informing the two parties of the decision to seize the disciplinary commission in order to examine the causes of this incident, so as to establish the responsibilities and apply the consequent sanctions.
