Zamalek dropped their first points in the Champions’ League group stage after being held to a scoreless draw by Algeria’s Mouloudia Club Alger on Friday.
The Whites couldn’t capitalize on their large domination during the whole 90 minutes wasting some easy chances while the visitors failed to register any shots on target.
Zamalek Portuguese coach Jaime Pacheco relied heavily on crosses in the absence of an imposing striker who can convert it into goals.
New recruit Marwan Hamdi and his second half substitute Hamid Ahadad failed to fill in for departed striker Mostafa Mohamed, who joined Galatasaray, barely making three headers during the entire game.
The Whites wasted many scoring chances which may turned the game upside down but the players’ lacked accuracy in the final touch.
Both sides now have one point in Group D that includes also Tunisia’s Esperance and Senegal’s Teungueth FC.
Zamalek fly off to Senegal in order to face Teungueth FC on 23 February in the second round of the African Champions League group stage.
