Azam Football Club today beat visiting Mbeya City FC 2-1 in an entertaining match played at the Chamazi Sports Complex in Dar es Salaam.
Mudathir Yahya opened the scores in the 11 minute for Half time lead in a tense match.
Azam keeper Aishi Manula got booked for time wasting.
In the second half,Kipre Tchetche extended the lead in the 52nd minute after a pass from Salum Abubakar
Mbeya City reduced the deficit in the 56th minute when Raphael Alpha scored from a Steven Mazanda pass.
Azam now join defending champions Yanga and Mtibwa Sugar at the top spot though Yana are top on goal difference.
In another fixture played today, winless African Sports got their first win courtesy of Matelema who got a pass from Pera Mavuo as they edged Ndanda FC 1-0 at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanya.
