Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa in suprise move to Kano Pillars

Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa has made a shocking move by rejoining Kano Pillars for a second stint.

The 28-year-old winger has been a free agent since parting ways with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in October 2020.

Musa attracted interest from English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion earlier this year, but he has now surprisingly returned home and rejoined his boyhood club, Pillars.

“Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has sensationally returned to Kano Pillars FC for the remainder of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season (NPFL).”

“Musa previously played for the Pride of Kano in 2009 where he ended the season as the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with 18 goals before moving to VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands,” a club statement read.

The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side explained that it has agreed to the deal after ‘due consultations’ with the player and the League Management Company ‘who stand as a mediator to the deal.’

Therefore, Musa has joined Sai Masu Gida until the end of the 2020/21 campaign having part of the club between 2009 and 2012.

Musa, who was once on the books of top English club Leicester City, was also linked with West Brom’s Premier League rivals Burnley, Southampton, and Brighton and Hove Albion.

His former club CSKA Moscow were also said to be interested in bringing him back to Russia, but he has now returned home.

He has netted 15 goals from 96 international matches for Nigeria.
