Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey is optimistic the Black Stars can still qualify out of the Group stages despite the 3-2 loss to Portugal in the first match.

Lamptey said in an exclusive interview with soka25east.com that qualification is still in Ghana’s hands.

We played very well we were unlucky that we couldn’t get the result that we wanted. We take positives from the game. We will keep training hard and doing what we have been doing. Listen to what the coach has to say and we move on to the next game. Of course it’s still in our hands if we take care of the business in the next two games,” Lamptey said.

The 22 year old came into the Ghana setup after switching Nationality from England. Now Lamptey is with Ghana at the World cup competing at the biggest stage of them all.

“I thank God for the position that I am in today, I always grateful. Playing against the best players brings your level up and to the level you know you can be at. I just have to keep working as hard as possible in training to ensure that you are ready,” he adds.

Up next for Ghana is Korea Republic on Monday at the Education City Stadium.
