The qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations resumed on Wednesday evening with a 1-1 draw between Equatorial Guinea and Libya at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi.
The first clash in the final matchday of fixtures ahead of the tournament in Ivory Coast early next year saw Nzalang Nacional claim the lead via Jose Elo in the 62nd minute, but the hosts struck back via Husain Taqtaq in the 80th minute to secure a share of the spoils.
The result means that already-qualified Equatorial Guinea end with 13 points and could be leapfrogged at the top of the standings by fellow qualifiers Tunisia, who will host Botswana in Tunis on Thursday evening.
The Mediterranean Knights remain bottom of the log on goal difference, but could avoid the wooden spoon if their fellow North Africans claim a victory by a margin of four goals or more against the Zebras.
The AFCON qualifiers will continue on Thursday 7 September with five matches across the continent, headlined by the clashes which will decide which two teams advance from Group E: Ghana v Central African Republic and Angola v Madagascar.
