SC Villa coach Spaniard Antonio Flores insists his side was better than Vipers SC despite falling 2-1 to the Azam Uganda Premier League defending champions at home on Friday.
Goals from former Villa forward Erisa Sekisambu in the first half and William Wadri just three minutes into the second half aided the Buikwe side’s continued dominance over the 16 record league champions for over seven years now. Kamanzi Denis scored the consolation for the home side.
However Flores told soka25east.com after the game, that his side had been the better team but had only failed to utilise their chances.
‘’The better team lost today, we created chances but we could not score, it was Vipers’ luck today but that’s football, sometimes you score ,sometimes you don’t’’. Flores said.
However when asked whether the difference between his side and the visitors was the effectiveness of the strikers, the Spaniard contracted himself, answering in the negative. ‘’ No, no it is not the quality of strikers at all, my players were very good but vipers had luck’’.
On his chances of competing for the league title, Flores was indecisive. He said he takes each match as it comes. ‘’ No, am not talking about winning the league right now, I concentrate on each match as it comes’’.
SC Villa is yet to play other title contenders KCCA FC and Express FC and has picked just a point from URA and Vipers.
After six games, the Jogoos are 11th on the table with 8 points, six adrift the leaders Vipers.
