With the Men’s football tournament at the 2024 Paris Games commencing this week, Guinea and New Zealand have the privilege of kicking off Group A at the Allianz Riviera in Nice on Wednesday.
While Guinea will be heading to the Olympic Games for the first time since 1968, New Zealand are looking to improve on their 6th place finish at the 2020 Tokyo showpiece.
Guinea go into their Men’s football assignment on the back of three consecutive victories, which included a famous 1-0 win against Argentina in a friendly encounter earlier this month.
New Zealand on the other hand, bagged four victories and one loss in each of their last five matches in all competitions.
Among top quality youngsters, Guinea will be guided by the experience of Naby Keita, Abdoulaye Toure and Amadou Diawara, who have been selected as the National Elephant’s overage players.
As for the OlyWhites, Alex Paulsen, Tyler Bindon and Ben Waine are expected to lead their charge at the games as three England-based stars.
